Check out up-and-coming singer/songwriter, Laurie Lehner!
via ReverbNation:
Laurie Lehner is a folk/rock/soul singer/songwriter who splits her time between Astoria and Long Island New York. A muse in her own right, she has, in recent years, decided to turn her muse inward to performing herself. Having inspired hippie rock icons and a Grammy-nominated album (take your best guess) she has been documenting her time on the road for a groupie memoir (title and release tbd). LL’s music is of the like, both cryptic and revealing, she bears her soul’s most private emotions and secrets while her powerful, soulful voice and passionate intensity undeniably prevail onstage. Just put her behind a microphone, and stand back.
She is currently developing her ‘hypothetical rock band and creative experience’, Blurry Love Circus into reality. BLC is a concept band in the works that will incorporate music, art, dance, poetry and any other art form Laurie and her troupe of talented girlfriends and muses have to offer. With an ever-changing cast of ladies, BLC will be a unique and wild experience at each and every performance. Stay tuned. Blurry Love Circus is coming…
LL intends to establish these projects through her own label, Make Love Records.

Talented locals, Silbin & Brian & Friends filled The Living Room in NYC last night to FULL capacity with fresh new sounds from their brand new album! I couldn’t even breathe from all of the folks around, but it sure was well worth it! Congrats, guys!
“…One of the most acclaimed movies to premier at the Sundance Film Festival last week has additional music composed by Astoria composer Scott Munson. The movie, ‘Another Earth’ by director Mike Cahill, won the acclaimed Alfred P. Sloan Prize at Sundance Film Festival, “presented to an outstanding feature film focusing on science or technology as a theme” (http://www.deadline.com/2011/01/sundance-mike-cahills-another-earth-wins-2011-alfred-p-sloan-feature-film-prize/), and was one of four films to be picked up for distribution by Fox Searchlight (http://www.indiewire.com/article/another_earth_has_another_better_deal/).In a scene in this movie the main character, a renowned composer named John (William Mapother) plays the musical saw. On the soundtrack we hear the playing of Astoria’s Natalia Paruz (aka the ‘Saw Lady’), who was also the actor’s coach, teaching him how to act as if he was playing the saw…”
Congrats!
